で、経緯はよく知りませんが、こういう独自規格とは別に、 GM を「公式に」拡張して、第三の拡張規格(笑)ができました。 これが General MIDI level 2 (通称 GM2)というやつで、 Roland SC-8850 のように早くも「GM2 完全対応」をうたった機種も発売されています。
